Hi there, I’m Daisy Sullivan, and welcome to Daisy Meals! I’m 34 years old and live in Portland, Oregon, where my kitchen is the heart of my home. Cooking has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t always about perfect dishes or fancy techniques. Some of my earliest kitchen memories involve me burning toast while trying to surprise my mom with breakfast. What I love most about food is that it’s forgiving. It teaches us to laugh at the little mistakes and celebrate the wins, no matter how small.

I grew up in a family that valued simple and nourishing meals. My grandmother, who moved from the Midwest, would prepare hearty stews, fresh-baked breads, and vegetables from her garden that seemed to come alive on the plate. She showed me that healthy food doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. It just needs care, good ingredients, and a little creativity. That lesson has stayed with me and shaped my philosophy in the kitchen today.

I didn’t train at a culinary school, but I’ve learned through years of experimenting, failing, and trying again. My background is a mix of self-teaching, hands-on practice, and countless evenings flipping through old cookbooks or watching home cooking shows. I find joy in discovering flavors, tweaking recipes to make them healthier, and showing that anyone, even beginners, can cook something delicious.

Here on Daisy Meals, my goal is to share approachable recipes that anyone can make at home. You don’t need fancy gadgets or hours of free time to cook. All you need is a willingness to try. I focus on fresh, healthy meals that fuel the body without sacrificing taste. From colorful salads to cozy soups, and even the occasional sweet treat, I believe balance is key.

Cooking has always been about connection for me. Food connects us to our heritage, our health, and the people we love. Every recipe I share is tested in my own kitchen, often with the help of my husband and my little girl, who are always eager to be taste-testers. Some recipes turn out beautifully on the first try, others take a few rounds of tweaking. I share the process honestly, because that’s the fun part of cooking.

I hope that when you stop by my blog, you feel welcomed, inspired, and encouraged to cook something new.
