Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- If your dates are not already pitted, make a small slit lengthwise and remove the pits. Wrap each date snugly with one half-slice of bacon. Secure the bacon with a toothpick, inserting it through the overlapping end.
- Arrange the bacon-wrapped dates in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping them over halfway through the cooking time.
- The dates are done when the bacon is browned and crispy. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra crispy bacon, place the dates on a wire rack set inside the baking sheet. This allows air to circulate and crisp up the bottom.
Optional: Stuff the dates with goat cheese, blue cheese, or an almond before wrapping with bacon for extra flavor and texture.
