Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Wash and dry the pears. Slice them in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or a small spoon, scoop out the core and seeds to create a cavity.
- Place the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish. Brush the surfaces lightly with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, combine the crumbled blue cheese and chopped walnuts.
- Spoon the cheese and walnut mixture evenly into the cavities of the pear halves.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the pears are tender when pierced with a knife and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven. Drizzle the stuffed pears with honey and garnish with fresh thyme leaves, if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Choosing Pears: Use firm pears like Bosc or Anjou that won't get mushy when baked.
Variations: Try wrapping the pears in prosciutto before baking or using pecans instead of walnuts.
Make-Ahead: You can core the pears and prepare the filling ahead of time. Store separately in the fridge and assemble just before baking.
