Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Whisk in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until glossy.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in most of the chocolate chips, reserving a handful for the top. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set. The center should still be slightly soft.
- Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the center to set up properly. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Do Not Overbake: For the gooiest center, remove the pie from the oven when the middle still looks slightly underdone. It will finish cooking as it rests.
