Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, salt, and white pepper until smooth. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the diced apples, diced celery, halved grapes, and about three-quarters of the toasted walnuts.
- Pour the prepared dressing over the apple mixture. Gently fold everything together with a spatula until all the ingredients are lightly and evenly coated. Be careful not to overmix.
- For the best flavor, cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Before serving, give it a gentle stir and garnish with the remaining toasted walnuts. Serve on a bed of lettuce if desired.
Notes
Toasting Walnuts: Place walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Let them cool completely before chopping.
Apples: To prevent apples from browning while you prep other ingredients, you can toss them in a little extra lemon juice.
Make Ahead: You can prep the ingredients (chop veggies, make dressing) separately and store them in the fridge. Combine everything just before serving for the best, crispest texture.
